IN TAIPEI, TAIWAN

Our Celebration

You're invited to a competition on the other side of the world.

Fewer things mean more to us than our friends. So we're skipping the big traditional wedding and spending it entirely with you instead.

And knowing that our friends consist of adventurers, competitors and instigators alike, we're excited to celebrate our union with you at the Girlster Games in Taipei, Taiwan.

The Games are choose-your-own-adventure: group hangs, optional missions, and time to explore on your own - anchored by a few marquee events and one big finale: Di Masquerave.

Every activity earns points, and real prizes are on the line. But knowing some of you, you're going hard regardless.

ACCOMMODATIONS

We recognize that flying to Taipei is a real commitment, so we would love to help cover part of your stay. Two options:

  1. 🏠 Claim a spot in one of a few large Airbnbs we're renting (with friends you know, and your own room).
  2. 🛎️ Book your own hotel or Airbnb and we'll chip in a set amount toward it.

If booking your own, we recommend staying in the Da'an, Zhongshan or Xinyi Districts, but you can't go wrong anywhere near an MRT stop.

Indicate your initial preference when you RSVP. More details to come.

TRAVEL TIPS

  • 🚇 Getting around: The MRT is fast, clean, fully signed in English and covers most of Taipei. Ubers are easy to get and very affordable.
  • 💳 EasyCard: Grab one at the airport, any MRT station, or a 7-Eleven. One card covers subways and buses.
  • 🧧 Cash: Most places take credit card and Apple Pay, but carry some NTD - markets, street food, and small shops are often cash-only.
  • 📱 eSIM: Set one up before you go or at the airport on arrival - makes maps, rides, and the Games much easier.
  • 🗣️ Language: English gets you far, though expect a few Girlster Games missions with Mandarin or Taiwanese involved.

DRESS CODE

  • Highs around 69°F, lows around 60°F, and some light rain - pack a compact umbrella.
  • There will be a mix of indoor, outdoor, and late-night events.

Di Masquerave

Formal and colorful - cocktail attire. Masks optional - there will be a mask-making station.

FAQ

Is there a traditional ceremony?
Not in the usual sense - we're skipping a formal sit-down ceremony in favor of three days of adventure together.
Can I bring a plus-one or my kids?
Everyone in your party will appear when you RSVP. We can't accommodate additional plus-ones beyond that, but children and babies are warmly welcome.
Do I need to bring a gift?
Your willingness to come party with us for 3 days in Taipei is more than enough - no gifts needed.
Do I need a visa, and is my passport okay?
If you're a US citizen, no visa needed - you can enter visa-free for up to 90 days, and your passport just needs to be valid for your stay (Taiwan doesn't require the usual six months). If traveling on another passport, check your country's rules - many do require six months' validity.
Anything I need to do before I fly?
Taiwan requires an online arrival card, filled out within 7 days before you fly. It takes a few minutes to complete.

Our Story

A classic enemies to lovers story.

Jeremy and Shuyu met when they were in preschool. In those years, everyone knew Jeremy was a bully. He tripped other kids whenever he got the chance.

Shuyu was one of those kids.

It was a rough start, but they endured. Through the years, they cultivated a shared love for animals, being super extra when hosting, letting work dictate their mental wellbeing, doing things they've never done, escaping via the cinema, and fabricated origin stories.

Some fun (mostly true) facts about them:

  • Their first date was hot pot (crazy for 3 year olds).
  • Shuyu thinks they have enough cats.
  • Jeremy's first chengyu was 对牛弹琴.
  • Shuyu hates watermelon as much as Jeremy hates the Mavericks.
  • Shuyu left read receipts on for Jeremy for a whole year without her realizing.
  • There are 25 dogs in the world and Bruno is one of them.
  • They got tattoos on their third date (crazy for 3 year olds; non-matching).
  • They'd become vegetarians if lab-grown meat started tasting pretty nummy.
  • Shuyu sees dead people, on occasion.

They are also living proof that China and Taiwan really can coexist in peace (for the most part).
